dedicated to J12

Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at PhotobucketToday is your very last day of being twelve years old.
Tomorrow, according to the language of our society, you become a teenager.
Tomorrow, according to the norms of our family, you become a young adult;-)

Today at breakfast you sat there wondering what was in the package, possibly wondering why Dadda had SO MUCH to say before you could find out!!
But it was good stuff, eh.
*Like from now on you get to choose when you go to bed. (I must say it is easy for us to give you this privilege, because last summer when you were given the option to stay up later you still chose to get to bed early “so I won’t be tired” – even when we were away camping)
*Like you get to choose more study and less chores when you’re ready for that jump in your education.
*Like you will be able to make more decisions.
*Like you can exhibit a greater degree of responsibility – heehee.

And the gift, the day-before-your-birthday-gift. What was it? Your childhood album (unfinished ~ I’m so glad you are excited about finishing it together with me) all wrapped up in the backing for your childhood quilt, which you are still doing some embroidery on (my turn to be excited ~ that this turned into a project we have ended up doing *together*)
Now you’ll be wondering if you’re getting a birthday present, because you thought the quilt was IT, didn’t you?

Quote on the card:
1 Corinthians 13:11
When I was a child I talked like a child, I thought like a child, I reasoned like a child. When I became a man I put childish ways behind me.

Happy birthday J13. If in fact that is your real name. I suspect it’s not. I hope it’s not. Unless you are robot in the Star Wars universe, and then it would be okay. Plus, then C3PO and R2D2 would attend your birthday party and that would be pretty awesome.

It’s in the genetics of all teens to roll their eyes at the uncoolness of their parents. It’s only natural. But remember
you’re lucky to have parents that love and support you like they do. Don’t forget this.

J13, (who also has a real name). To Kelsey, Thank you for your Wonderful Words of Wisdom!!! I think I’ve got the coolest parents around. It isn’t any ordinary parents that would take their kids to Mongolia;-)
And thanks to you other well wishers.
