The birthday is over, but the celebrations continue.
One of the things we wanted to highlight to you this week (talking to J13 here!) is that you haven’t *arrived* (let’s face it, none of us have!). You’re on a journey and so every day this week we are doing something special with you. It’s an ongoing thing.
Tonight the table will be set with candles, lots of candles.
And there will be a little present wrapped up in yellow paper.
Inside you will find a candlestick, specially for you. It’s all dark and tarnished, but I know how much you enjoy polishing Grandpa’s silver, so I’m sure you’ll enjoy making this glisten too. And as you do so, you can remember:

In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was with God in the beginning. Through him all things were made; without him nothing was made that has been made. In him was life, and that life was the light of men.
The light shines in the darkness, but the darkness has not understood it.
~ John 1:1-5

You are the light of the world. A city on a hill cannot be hidden. Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before men, that they may see your good deeds and praise your Father in heaven.
Matthew 5:14-16
Why is the candlestick black? Coz we got it from the Sallies (where else? heehee) It only cost a dollar, but it comes with much more meaning and many memories-to-be-made.
I love the way you celebrate birthdays
“let it shine let it shine let it shine”
Rach you’re truly an inspirational mama – J13 i’m just imagining you inspiring many others in the future as you recount all this when you’re older.
