My first foray into using wool on top of cloth nappies was *recycled butt sweaters*.
You go along to your local op shop, buy up the cheap 100% wool sweaters and come home and turn them into little butt coverers. Very easy. Eco friendly. Worked well. Felt them if you like.

I never got round to making longies from recycled sweaters (because I learnt to knit and much preferred knitting to sewing), but if you are keen there’s an easy-peasy tutorial here.
